Keep Hardwood Floors Protected During Move

November 21, 2017by sanoosh3600

Moving from one home or city to another can be messy. There is lot of action going on in home during move. Since movers will be coming in and out during move, foot traffic is a big concern for floors. Here are some tips on how to protect your floors

Protect Hardwood

During move hardwood floors must be protected to prevent scratches, dents, and other damages. One of the most inexpensive ways to protect hardwoods is by taping down large, flat pieces of cardboard. The main drawback of this is, if the weather is wet, the cardboard can end up being a messy solution. You will have to take time to replace pieces throughout the day.

There are also masking tapes, plastic film rolls available for hardwood. Be sure to read the packaging, as there are different types suitable for different hardwoods. Just roll out the plastic along the floor and secure it to the baseboards or walls with painter’s tape.

If you have hardwood or laminate flooring, then you should be using felt pads on the feet of all of your furniture to protect the surface. These inexpensive felt pads can typically be cut to size and will adhere right to the furniture, like on the feet of a chair, table, or sofa. This is a great way to keep floors safe from scratches even after the move.

Take the time to protect your floors while moving. Your flooring will look great once you finally get settled in to your new home.
